PM Modi holds bilateral meeting with Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr Store in Oslo today.

Earlier, the Prime Minister was warmly welcomed by the Indian diaspora upon his arrival in Oslo as part of his multi-nation tour.  Prime Minister Modi’s has arrived in Oslo for his first-ever visit to Norway. This is also the first Prime Ministerial visit from India in 43 years.

This visit includes bilateral talks between India and Norway and also the 3rd India-Nordic Summit. This visit will give impetus to India’s relations with the Nordic Countries. 

Today, the Prime Minister will call on their Majesties King Harald V and Queen Sonja. He will also address the India-Norway Business and Research Summit. This visit is expected to focus on areas like clean & green technology and blue economy. It will also give momentum to trade and investment opportunities.

Tomorrow, the Prime Minister will attend the 3rd India – Nordic Summit. In view of the recently implemented Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement, the Summit is expected to catalyze economic relations with the member countries.

The bilateral trade between India and the 5 Nordic countries currently stands at 19 billion dollars. The focus areas include a wide range of sectors like Innovation, Defense, the Arctic and people to people contact. This visit is expected to deepen India’s already cordial ties with the Nordic countries.
