The Pakistani government has increased petrol and high-speed diesel prices by 55 Pakistani rupees per litre each.
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb announced the hike.
As a result of the hike, the ex-depot price of high-speed diesel was fixed at 335.86 Pakistani rupees per litre, up by about 20 per cent from 280.86 Pakistani rupees per litre.
Likewise, the ex-depot price of petrol was revised to 321.17 Pakistani rupees per litre from 266.17 Pakistani rupees per litre, reflecting an increase of around 17 per cent.
Pakistan imports oil mainly from Saudi Arabia and the UAE through the Strait of Hormuz.
