Over 12,000 AYUSH health & wellness centres established across country, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that around 12 thousand AYUSH health and wellness centres have been established across the country to provide holistic healthcare services. Addressing the centenary celebrations of Arya Vaidya Sala Charitable Hospital in Kerala virtually, Mr Modi noted that in its 125-year journey, the institution has established Ayurveda as a powerful system of treatment.
 
Prime Minister Modi highlighted that the Vaidya hospital has been treating and providing ailment to people tirelessly since its establishment.  He recalled the contributions of Vaidyaratnam P.S. Varier, the founder of Arya Vaidyasala, emphasising that his approach towards Ayurveda and his dedication to public welfare continue to inspire the citizens. Mr Modi lauded the contribution and role of Ayurveda in wellness. 
 
Emphasising the long-standing method of treatment in Ayurveda, Mr Modi said that it has been treating people from generation to generation and always been useful. Underlining  India’s emergence as a trusted destination for AYUSH-based Medical Value Travel, the Prime Minister asserted that the introduction of the AYUSH Visa is helping foreign visitors access better facilities in Ayurveda and traditional medicine.
 
Mr Modi highlighted that the government has established the Ayush Export Promotion Council to promote Indian traditional wellness globally. In his address, the Prime Minister underscored that India’s Ayush and herbal products exports have risen from 3 thousand crore rupees in 2014 to 6 thousand 500 crore rupees. 
 
Describing the India-European Trade Agreement as historic, Mr Modi said that this trade agreement will boost Indian traditional medical services and practitioners. He said that this agreement will also support youth involved with Ayurveda and Yoga in the country. He added that the agreement will help in establishing AYUSH wellness centres in the EU.
