Om Birla Calls for Reform of UN Structure

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today underscored the importance of re-evaluating the United Nations’ current structure in light of a rapidly changing global landscape. He highlighted the need for reforms that address contemporary challenges. Mr Birla was addressing the inaugural session of 26th International Conference of Chief Justices of the World in New Delhi. Observing that in a world grappling with critical issues including war, terrorism, climate crises, and digital threat, Mr Birla said that dialogue, cooperation, and timely global reforms have become indispensable.
 
 
 
In his address, Lok Sabha Speaker also highlighted country’s ancient philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and the principles of peace, harmony, and equity enshrined in the Constitution as the foundation of the country’s global commitment. Highlighting country’s active role in UN peacekeeping missions, Mr Birla affirmed that India has consistently acted with a deep sense of responsible global cooperation.
