In Odisha, polling began for the by-election in the Nuapada Assembly constituency this morning amid tight security. According to the Election Commission of India, 32.51 percent of voting has been reported till 11 this morning. Polling began at 7 this morning across 358 booths in the constituency and will continue till 5 this evening. However, polling will end at 4 this evening at 47 polling stations located in remote and Maoist-affected pockets. A total of 2 lakh 53 thousand voters are likely to cast their franchise in the constituency. The by-election was necessitated following the death of four-time MLA Rajendra Dholakia of BJD. Nuapada Assembly constituency is witnessing a three-corner contest among Jay Dholakia of BJP, Snehnagini Chhuria of BJD and Ghasiram Majhi of the Congress, while there are 14 candidates in the fray.
