NITI Aayog Chief Executive Officer B.V. Subrahmanyam calls for concerted efforts to make India top 3 quantum economy by 2025

NITI Aayog’s Frontier Tech Hub has released a roadmap to position India as a leading quantum-powered economy, outlining strategies to accelerate R&D, develop talent, scale commercialisation, and strengthen secure quantum infrastructure.
 
 
The roadmap highlighted the growing global significance of quantum technologies across healthcare, finance, logistics, energy, national security, and advanced computing, noting their role as a foundation for future AI, biotechnology and secure communication systems.
 
 
 
The roadmap has been launched at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-H) in Hyderabad last evening in the presence of Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, state IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, NITI Aayog Member Dr. V.K. Saraswat, Its CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam and other stakeholders.
 
 
 
Addressing a gathering after launching the roadmap, NITI Aayog Chief Executive Officer B V Subrahmanyam called for concerted efforts to make India a top-three quantum economy by 2025. He said Hyderabad has all the ingredients to become the country’s Quantum City and the state’s quantum policy is in sync with the national strategy.
 
 
 
Chief Architect of NITI Frontier Tech Hub, Debjani Ghosh, said at least 10 globally competitive quantum start-ups, each surpassing 100 million dollars in revenue, will be incubated. She stressed achieving Quantum Atmanirbharata and controlling critical points in global supply chains and capturing over 50 per cent of the value in the global quantum software and services market by 2035.
 
 
 
She further said the country has to prepare for the likely technological disruptions that could happen over the next 10 years and frontier technologies are the key for the country in its journey to Vikisit Bharat by 2047. The Telangana Quantum Strategy – a framework for research, skilling, innovation and economic growth has also been unveiled on the occasion.
