National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued notices to the Punjab Chief Secretary, SSP Hoshiarpur, and the Chief Controller of Explosives of Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO), under the Commerce and Industry Ministry. These notices have been issued in relation to the reported survival difficulties of the victims of an LPG tanker blast incident in a village of Hoshiarpur, Punjab. The commission has asked for a detailed report on the matter within two weeks. NHRC has taken suo motu cognisance of the media report stating that even after a month of the incident, affected families are still struggling to rebuild their houses and shops. The media reports mentioned that seven people died and several properties were damaged in the incident.
