Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 serves as a philosophical framework designed to promote world-class education universally, and it has become the most significant route towards achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Speaking at the inaugural session of the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2025 in New Delhi today, he highlighted that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 represents a transformative renaissance in the Indian education system. Mr Pradhan said that the government has been successful in taking NEP 2020 to classrooms, campus and community.
Talking about Pre-School education he stated that for the first time in the country, pre-school, early childhood care and education are taking the form of an institutional framework. The minister noted that NEP 2020 is reviving the timeless civilisational ethos that places learning at the heart of nation-building. Mr Pradhan said that the policy establishes a strong foundation for a holistic, inclusive, and future-ready education system. The minister also paid tribute to Dr. K Kasturirangan – the pioneering architect of NEP 2020. He said that his vision was not merely aspirational, but truly transformative-reimagining education to meet the aspirations of the 21st century.
During the event, the Union Minister laid foundation to various project and launched TARA App and My Career Advisor App. The Minister also unveiled various initiatives worth more than 4 thousand crore rupees.
Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Education Ministers of several States, Vice Chancellors, and prominent academicians from across the country also attended the event. During the event, Mr Chaudhary read out the statement given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a statement he said that during the last five years, many positive changes have come in the field of education. He said that Education in mother tongue, strengthening school education or giving special emphasis on skill-based education, the National Education Policy is making a significant contribution to the overall and multidimensional development of students by encouraging research and innovation.
