The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) organised a workshop on Enhancing Response Capabilities in Chemical Disasters in New Delhi yesterday. The workshop was aimed at addressing the aspects of having the right equipment, adequate skills and required manpower to tackle chemical disasters. Further, the workshop also witnessed discussions on the causes of disasters, threat mapping, the right use of chemicals, and preparedness during chemical disasters among others.
Briefing the media after the workshop, NDRF’s Director General, Piyush Anand informed that experts from the Defence Research and Development Organisation and various other institutions were invited to the workshop to train and share their insights. He added that representatives from the State Disaster Response Force-SDRF and state fire services also participated in the day-long workshop
