NCAER Reports Rise in Skilled Workforce

National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER has said that India is witnessing an increase in skilled workforce and productivity of small enterprises, leading to substantial employment growth in the country. The Ministry of Finance said in a statement that Vice Chairman of the National Council of Applied Economic Research, Manish Sabharwal, released a study titled India’s Employment Prospects: Pathways to Jobs yesterday. Mr Sabharwal said that India is on track to become the world’s third-largest economy, and its per capita GDP highlights valuable opportunities to prioritise employment and inclusive growth.
 
 
The report underlined that skilling and small enterprises are key drivers of job creation in the country. It also highlighted the need to overcome bottlenecks in increasing both the quality and quantity of workforce participation and labour productivity. It said that strengthening employment opportunities in labour-intensive manufacturing and services sectors could help sustain GDP growth at around 8 per cent, consistent with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
