The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has released over thirty-nine crore rupees to Andhra Pradesh for Red Sanders Protection and Conservation. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change informed that the move is aimed at empowering frontline forest staff, enhancing protection measures and encouraging scientific management of Red Sanders forests, marking a significant step toward securing a vibrant future for this iconic species. The Ministry further informed that so far, the NBA has released over forty-nine crore rupees to forest departments of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha and to the Andhra Pradesh State Biodiversity Board for Red Sanders conservation, protection and research. Red Sanders are highly valuable woods used for making furniture, musical instruments, and cosmetics, and domestically for traditional medicines.
