Union Minister JP Nadda calls on citizens to come together to raise awareness about Dengue

National Dengue Day is being observed today in the country. Officially declared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the day aims to raise awareness and strengthen preventive pre-monsoon measures against the disease.

The day is marked to promote simple control strategies, including the elimination of stagnant water and proper maintenance of water storage tanks, aimed at preventing mosquito breeding. May has been designated as a key month for pre-monsoon awareness activities to curb the spread of dengue. The Ministry observes July as Anti-Dengue Month, during which sustained awareness and prevention campaigns are carried out nationwide.

On the occasion of National Dengue Day, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda called on citizens to come together to raise awareness about dengue prevention and maintain clean and safe surroundings. In a social media message, Mr Nadda said the government is continuing to strengthen dengue control efforts through enhanced surveillance, expanded testing, improved treatment facilities, and widespread awareness campaigns. Highlighting this year’s theme – “Community Participation for Dengue Control: Check, Clean and Cover”, Mr. Nadda emphasized that active community involvement is essential in the fight against dengue.
