National Consumer Helpline facilitates Rs 52 Crore in Refunds across 31 sectors

The National Consumer Helpline (NCH) has facilitated refunds of over 52 crore rupees across 31 sectors. NCH has done this by resolving 79 thousand consumer grievances related to refund claims during the past nine months. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said the refunds were secured at the pre-litigation stage, enabling consumers to obtain timely relief without approaching Consumer Commissions.

The Ministry added that this flagship initiative of the Department of Consumer Affairs plays a key role in providing accessible and time-bound grievance redressal under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Operating through a convergence model, the Helpline digitally forwards complaints to companies for resolution within defined timelines, with continuous monitoring and consumer feedback tracking.

The initiative reinforces the Government’s commitment to strengthening consumer trust in digital marketplaces and service ecosystems, while encouraging consumers to proactively use the Helpline for timely grievance redressal.
