National Press Day is being celebrated today, marking the establishment of the Press Council of India in 1966. The theme for this year is ‘Safeguarding Press Credibility Amidst Rising Misinformation.’
In Nagaland, the Kohima Press Club is leading the observance with a special program, which will bring together local journalists, media professionals, and other key figures to celebrate the media’s role in democracy.
On the occasion, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has extended his greetings to the press and media fraternity. In a message posted on social media, he acknowledged the role of journalists and the media in promoting transparency, accountability, and an informed society.
The Chief Minister urged everyone to continue upholding freedom of expression and to protect the voices that shape democracy.
