Along with the rest of the country, Nagaland today celebrated Constitution Day, commemorating the adoption of the Constitution of India. Different programmes were organized across state departments and district offices, with reading of the Preamble to the Constitution. In Akashvani Kohima, Deputy Director General (Engineering) and cluster head of Kohima, KK Rengma led the staff of the station in a mass reading of the Preamble, reaffirming the commitment to the values and principles enshrined in the Constitution.
Directorate of Information & Public Relations also celebrated the day with Officers and staff taking the Constitution Day pledge. At the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen, initiated the pledge-taking. Officers and staff of the Secretariat also read out the Preamble to the Constitution of India in unison. Meanwhile, the Kohima District Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Kohima Bar Association & Prosecution also held a programme to mark the 76th Constitution Day.
Speaking at the event, Chairperson, Nagaland State Human Rights Commission & Retired Gauhati High Court Judge, Justice Songkhupchung Serto, stressed that the Constitution is not merely a document but a living, evolving entity that embodies the dreams and aspirations of the forefathers.
