Mizoram Governor Vijay Kumar Singh today launched the intensive house listing and housing census operations for the country’s first digital census at Lok Bhavan in Mizoram.
With this, Mizoram has joined the rest of the country in commencing the first phase of the general census exercise. Describing it as India’s first-ever digital census, the Governor urged field officials to carry out their duties with dedication and sincerity, and stressed that no household should be left out. He also asked enumerators to clearly explain the process to the public to ensure accurate data collection.
The Governor appealed to citizens to fully cooperate with census officials. During the event, his own housing census entry was formally completed using a Self Enumeration ID generated earlier through online self-enumeration.
The Census 2027 will be conducted in two phases. The first phase, house listing and housing census, began on 1st of April, with door-to-door enumeration in Mizoram commencing today and will continue till 15th of May.
The second phase, population enumeration, is scheduled to begin in February next year, during which detailed demographic data will be collected.
