Ministry of Earth Sciences Secretary M. Ravichandran inaugurated the Coastal Atmospheric Research Testbed (C-ART) at Andhra University in Visakhapatnam today.
The facility has been set up by the Ministry in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune under Mission Mausam. The facility has been set up to support research on coastal weather systems, atmospheric changes and climate-related studies.
C-ART is the third such facility in the country and the first on the East Coast. Advanced instruments, including Doppler Radar, Wind Lidar and Wind Profiler systems, have been installed at the centre for weather observation and atmospheric studies.
