Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare says Rabi crops coverage crosses 644 lakh hectares 

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has informed that the overall coverage of Rabi crops has reached more than 644 lakh hectare area as of the 9th of this month. The Ministry said that Rabi crops have recorded robust growth, increasing the total area by more than 17 lakh hectares over the last year. It added that the wheat was sown over a 334 lakh hectare area, while rice was grown in more than a 21 lakh hectare area.

The Ministry further said that pulses have been sown over 136 lakh hectare area, compared to nearly 133 lakh hectare area during the corresponding period of last year. Meanwhile, Shri Anna and Coarse Cereals have witnessed the sowing of more than 55 lakh hectares. The area cultivated with Oilseeds crossed over 96 lakh hectares.
