Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the Commonwealth Sport’s decision to award the hosting rights of the 2030 Commonwealth Games to Ahmedabad is a prestigious moment for the country as it strives to become a sporting powerhouse by 2047. Addressing an event in New Delhi this evening, the Minister said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the nation has successfully hosted 22 major international sports events in 18 cities across the country over the past decade. The Minister also highlighted the world’s growing confidence in country’s hosting capability.
The event showcased a specially curated audio-visual film showcasing India’s Commonwealth Games legacy, from medal milestones to hosting the 2010 edition. The announcement was followed by a spectacular laser show and fireworks and culminated with the unveiling of the official hashtag #CWG2030InBHARAT, representing India’s ambition and vision toward Viksit Bharat 2047.
