In Manipur, the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, in collaboration with the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union and the Editors’ Guild Manipur (EGM) observed World Press Freedom Day under the theme ‘Shaping a Future of Peace’ in Imphal on Sunday.
The Director, IPR, Governor of Manipur, President of AMWJU and President, EGM attended the programme as praesidium members along with senior journalists, editors, officials of DIPR, among others. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Dr. Th. Charanjeet Singh highlighted that the World Press Freedom Day serves as a reminder of the importance of press freedom and the need to uphold and respect it. He also paid tribute to journalists and media personnel across the world who have lost their lives in the line of duty while defending press freedom.
