In Manipur, the combined security forces including Manipur Police, Indian Army and Assam Rifles have safely brought back Indian citizens taking shelter in Myanmar after the eruption of violence on May 3rd. The Meitei families living in border town- Moreh fled the town and entered to Myanmar side after miscreants started burning the houses. Those families were taking shelter in Myanmar for more than three months and they were brought back safely to Moreh yesterday by the security forces. They are taking shelter at Assam Rifles camp located in Moreh now and Assam Rifles is providing the necessary relief items to them.
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, through social media, thanked the Indian Army and Assam Rifles especially GOC Eastern Command- Lt. General RP Kalita, GOC 3 Corp- Lt. General HS Sahi and Commanding Officers of 5th Assam Rifles- Colonel Rahul Jain for their dedicated efforts in bringing back the Indian citizens from Myanmar.
