On the occasion of the birth anniversary of social reformer Savitribai Phule, the pioneer of women’s education, tributes are being paid to her across the state today. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also paid his respect, stating that Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule’s name is very important among the great personalities who inspire us. He was speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of her memorial and a women’s training centre in Naigaon, her birthplace in Satara district, today.
The Chief Minister informed that not only a memorial but also a training centre to empower women will be built. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also paid their tributes to Savitribai Phule. Various programs have been organised today on this occasion. In Mumbai, tributes were paid by offering floral tributes to Savitribai’s image at Maharashtra Lok Bhavan. Other cities like Nashik, Beed, Nanded, and Parbhani also celebrated Savitribai Phule’s birth anniversary with enthusiasm.
