Several new initiatives have been announced by the authorities in Maharashtra to mark the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. State’s deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said 394 Namo Gardens are being developed across municipal councils and nagar panchayats. Calling them a gift from Maharashtra, Mr. Shinde said a divisional level competition will also be held once the gardens are completely developed by next year.
Civic bodies securing the top three positions in each division will receive additional development funds of 5 crore, 3 crore and one crore rupees, respectively. On the tourism front, Maharashtra’s Tourism Minister Shambhuraj Desai has announced the NaMo Tourism Skill Programme, under which 7,500 local youths will be trained in hospitality management and to work as tour guides. Meanwhile, the ‘Namo Netra Sanjeevani Abhiyan’ was also launched in the state.
