Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today informed that out of the 90 lakh farmers affected by unseasonal rains in the state, 92 percent farmers have received financial assistance. He said, rest of the farmers will also receive the assistance after completing KYC procedure. Mr. Fadnavis was addressing a press conference on the eve of the winter session of state Legislature in Nagpur today. The week long winter session of Maharashtra legislature will begin from tomorrow, and will continue till 14th of this month.
Countering the allegations of opposition parties, the Chief Minister clarified that, Maharashtra is the most economically viable state among the large states of the country, and has sufficient funds available for the implementation of welfare schemes.
He also informed that the government is ready to discuss all issues including agriculture in this session and a total of 18 bills will be tabled.
Meanwhile, the opposition leaders Vijay Wadettiwar , Bhaskar Jadhao have alleged that the current dispeansion is not ready to give constitutional posts of Leader of opposition (LoP) in both houses of legislature and it is undermining the democratic institutions. The opposition also boycotted the customary tea party hosted by the ruling party.
Mr Fadnavis however made it clear that the decision of appointing LoP rests with the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and the Chairman of the Legislative Council.
