The deadline for withdrawing nominations for the elections to the state’s 29 municipal corporations ended yesterday. After the allocation of election symbols today, the final list of candidates will be announced. Voting will be held on January 15th, and the counting of votes will take place on January 16th. Many candidates withdrew their nominations in several wards yesterday.
The BJP has stated that a total of 68 candidates of the Mahayuti alliance have been elected unopposed in the state. This includes 44 candidates from the BJP, 22 from Shiv Sena, and 2 from the Nationalist Congress Party. In the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, 1,729 candidates are trying their luck for 227 seats. 453 candidates have withdrawn from the election.
