Madhya Pradesh government transfers model Twisha Sharma death case to CBI investigation

The CBI will investigate the suspicious death of model Twisha Sharma in Bhopal. She was found dead on May 12 at her home in Katara Hills. The Madhya Pradesh Home Department has issued a notification transferring the case to the CBI. The case was registered at Katara Hills police station under dowry death sections.

On May 20, Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, met Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav along with retired soldiers. The Chief Minister had assured them of a CBI inquiry. Police have filed a case against Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh and her mother-in-law Giribala Singh under dowry harassment sections. Giribala Singh is a retired judge. She got anticipatory bail from the court, but Samarth Singh’s bail plea was rejected.

Twisha’s family claims she was murdered. They also allege that evidence has been tampered with. The in-laws, however, say she died by suicide. The National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognisance of the case. It has sought a detailed action taken report from the MP Chief Secretary and DGP within seven days.
