Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today observed that reforms like One Nation, One Tax have made the nation’s tax structure simple and transparent, contributing to the country’s growth and prosperity. The Speaker made these remarks while addressing Officer Trainees of the 76th Batch of the Indian Revenue Service in New Delhi. Mr Birla added that the bold, confident, and fresh perspectives of young Officer Trainees will help India progress towards global leadership.

 

The Speaker said that IRS officers are key pillars of the country’s economic strength. They not only collect taxes, but play a major role in facilitating business, preventing illegal trade and money laundering, and maintaining financial discipline. He underlined that modern tools like digital tax systems, AI-based assessments, and data analytics further enhance transparency and fairness in taxation.

 

Mr Birla also expressed satisfaction at the increasing number of women officers in various Central and All India Services, and said that it reflects India’s growth and aspirations.
