The Lok Sabha will hold a special discussion on 150th Anniversary of National Song Vande Mataram on 8th of this month. The Lower House will debate on Election Reforms on 9th December. Briefing media at the Parliament House today, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju said, it was decided during the all party meeting Chaired by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today. He said, after both the discussions are over, Government will propose to take up the discussion also in the Rajya Sabha.
The Minister said, Election Commission reform is a larger issue which is conducted by the Government and discussed in the Parliament. He said, for bigger reforms in the Election Commission and Election process, Parliament takes up all the matters. Mr Rijiju said, SIR is an administrative matter which was decided by the Election Commission of India. He said, since the matter has been settled by coming into an agreement for discussion and the time and the date have been finalised, Government is looking forward to a very constructive and engaging discussion.
