As the country gears up to vote in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections tomorrow, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Rajiv Kumar has appealed to the voters to realise their democratic responsibility and exercise their voting right. Talking to Akashvani news, CEC Rajiv Kumar said that it is because of people’s judicious participation that the country has been able to hold several high-quality elections smoothly and regularly. Saying elections are the most beautiful expression of India’s democracy, CEC Rajiv Kumar called upon the youth to lead a revolution in electoral participation.
Mr Rajiv Kumar said that voters who are eighty five years or above and persons with disabilities can opt to vote from the comfort of their homes. Mr Kumar advised the people to take all precautions during the summer heat and expressed hope that the spirit of the Indian voter will beat the summer heat.

The Border Security Force (BSF) in Rajasthan’s Anupgarh district located along the India-Pakistan border has shot down a Pakistani drone that was carrying drugs, an official said yesterday. Heroin valued at Rs 13 crore was seized after the drone was shot down. A search operation, after bringing down the drone, was conducted in the area on the intervening yesterday. The drone and a packet containing heroin were seized. BSF officials handed over the drugs and drone to the Narcotics Control Bureau.

Zomato, the food delivery platform announced that the company is going with the process of starting the first large order fleet. The CEO of the company, Deepinder Goyal said that it will be an all electric vehicle, designed to serve up to 50 people. Such large orders were earlier delivered by multiple delivery partners. Goyal said that the new vehicles should solve most of the problems of the customers.

The third batch of Agniveers undergoing training at The Parachute Regiment Training Centre in Bengaluru marched into the folds of India’s elite Parachute Regiment with great pride and elan. The impressive parade consisting of 427 Agniveers marked the successful culmination of an intense 24 week recruit training period for the newly inducted Agniveers.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has said his government will bring a system to safeguard the assets of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), who migrate to countries like the USA, and to provide assistance to the elderly parents of NRIs by charging a nominal fee. He also said the state government is planning to set up ‘Telangana Gulf and Other Overseas Board’ in the premises of Mahatma Jyothiba Phule Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad. Speaking at a meeting organised in Hyderabad, the chief minister said his government was carefully studying the matter of setting up a separate board for the welfare of overseas migrant labourers. He said a policy document was already prepared by studying the policies implemented by Kerala and Philippines.

दिल्ली पुलिस ने अंतर्राज्य ड्रग सिंडिकेट के एक मुख्य आरोपी को गिरफ्तार किया है। इससे पहले दिल्ली पुलिस ने इस सिंडिकेट के छह लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया था। दिल्ली पुलिस स्पेशल सेल के उपायुक्त मनोज ने बताया कि मुख्य आरोपी युसुफ आजम के पास से लगभग 7 लाख के ट्रामाडोल के कैप्सूल बरामद किए गए हैं जिसकी कीमत अंतर्राष्ट्रीय बाजार में आठ करोड रूपये है। उन्होंने बताया कि आरोपी उत्तर प्रदेश के लखनऊ का रहने वाला है।

बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट ने बुधवार को पालघर जिले में जिला उपभोक्ता विवाद निवारण आयोग की स्थापना की मांग करने वाली एक जनहित याचिका (पीआईएल) पर महाराष्ट्र सरकार से जवाब मांगा। मुख्य न्यायाधीश की खंडपीठ देवेन्द्र कुमार उपाध्याय और न्याय आरिफ डॉक्टर मामले में नोटिस जारी किया और मामले की अगली सुनवाई जून में तय की। कोर्ट ने कहा कि इस बात का कोई औचित्य नहीं है कि दस साल बीत जाने के बावजूद पालघर में अभी तक जिला उपभोक्ता फोरम की स्थापना क्यों नहीं की गई है। निर्मित किया गया था।

निर्वाचन आयोग ने पश्चिम बंगाल के राज्यपाल को कल मतदान के दिन कूचबिहार का दौरा न करने की सलाह दी है, क्योंकि इससे आचार संहिता का उल्लंघन होगा। आयोग के सूत्रों ने बताया है कि आचार संहिता के तहत मतदान के दिन राज्यपाल के लिए कोई स्थानीय कार्यक्रम आयोजित नहीं किया जा सकता। जन-प्रतिनिधित्व अधिनियम के अनुसार कूचबिहार के लिए साइलेंस पीरियड आज शाम छह बजे से शुरू हो गया है। इस अवधि में आयोग की तरफ से अनेक प्रतिबंध लगा दिये जाते हैं। स्वतंत्र और निष्पक्ष चुनाव सुनिश्चित करने के लिए साइलेंस पीरियड शुरू होते ही प्रचारकों, राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ताओं और उच्च पद पर आसीन लोगों को उस निर्वाचन क्षेत्र से बाहर चले जाना होता है, जो वहां के मतदाता नहीं हैं। निर्वाचन आयोग ने सभी जिला चुनाव अधिकारियों और जिला पुलिस प्रमुखों को इस संबंध में निर्देश जारी कर दिये हैं।

Tantia Tope was defeated by Sir Colin Campbell (later Baron Clyde) on December 6, 1857.
He was hanged on April 18, 1859, in General Meade’s camp at Shivpuri.

उन्होंने भारतीय सिनेमा में एक लंबा सफर तय किया। वे सिनेमा के आरंभिक दौर से लेकर आधुनिक समय तक की द्रष्टाऔर साक्षी थीं। मूक फ़िल्मों की मौन भाषा से लेकर बोलती फ़िल्मों के वाचाल जादू के दौर को उन्होंने देखा। भारतीय सिनेमा को परवान चढ़ते देखा। इस विकास-क्रम का एक हिस्सा बनीं। स्त्री-जीवन के विविध आयामों को पर्दे पर निभाया। बचपन से लेकर वृद्धावस्था तक विभिन्न स्त्री-छवियों में ललिता घुल-मिल गईं। भारतीय नारी के हर एक चरित्र में ढल गईं। ललिता पवार हिंदी सिनेमा में भारतीय नारी जीवन की एक महान् कलाकार थीं। इस क्रम में एक परंपरागत सास की छवि को उन्होंने इतना बखूबी निभाया कि यह उनकी पहचान ही बन गई।

Dulari’s real name was Ambika Gautam. She was from the Awadh region of Uttar Pradesh. She was nick-named Rajdulari and later on, only Dulari remained, by which she was known.
