In Ladakh, Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (Dr) B D Mishra formally inaugurated a day long national conference on Nalanda Buddhism at Central Institute of Buddhist Studies in Leh. It was organised by the Indian Himalayan Council of Nalanda Buddhist Tradition in collaboration with Ladakh Buddhist Association and All Ladakh Gonpa Association. The conference aims to retrace the source in the footsteps of Nalanda Buddhism and discuss the challenges and responses for the Nalanda Buddhism in 21 Century. It also aims to discuss the history and philosophy of Nalanda Buddhism and four major traditions Nyingma, Sakya, Kagud and Gelukpa.
Delegates from Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Lahoul -Spiti, Kinnaur of Himachal Pradesh, Darjeeling, Doors and Jaigaon from North Bengal, Utrakhand, Padder- Pangi from Jammu and Kashmir participated in the conference. Member of Parliament from Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Chief Executive Councillor Leh Tashi Gyalson also addressed the conference.
