KP Sharma Oli government in Nepal will seek vote of confidence in the House of Representatives (HoR) today. As per the Nepali constitution, the newly appointed Prime Minister should take trust vote in Parliament within 30 days of the appointment. The 72-year-old veteran Communist leader was sworn in on Monday as Prime Minister for the fourth time. The chairman of the CPN-UML, Nepal’s largest Communist party, was appointed as Prime Minister by President Ram Chandra Paudel to lead the coalition government with the Nepali Congress (NC), the largest party in parliament. Mr Oli formed his government after the collapse of Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ government. PM Oli requires 138 votes in the 275-member House of Representatives to win the vote of confidence, and the NC and CPN-UML have 166 members in the Lower House.
