J&K government directs employees to submit annual property returns online by January 31

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Government has directed all its employees to mandatorily file their Annual Property Returns (APR) for the year 2025 through the online Property Return System (PRS) Portal within the stipulated timeline, failing which strict action will be initiated.

Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that according to Circular issued by the General Administration Department (Vigilance), every public servant is legally bound under Section 9 of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Servants Declaration of Assets and Other Provisions Act, 1983, to submit details of assets held by themselves and their family members in the month of January every year, along with reasons and sources of any increase in assets.

The circular cautions that non-submission of property returns without valid reasons will attract penalties under the Prevention of Corruption Act and may be treated as criminal misconduct. It further states that failure to file APRs will also result in the denial of Vigilance Clearance.

To streamline and simplify the process, the government has made it mandatory to file property returns online through the PRS Portal, accessible at https://prs.jk.gov.in. Employees can submit their returns from January 1, 2026, and the portal will automatically close on January 31. The government has reiterated that adherence to the timeline is mandatory, and no extension will be granted beyond January 31, 2026.
