Jammu and Kashmir Police Urges Public to Use ERSS-112 for Quick Emergency Assistance

The Jammu and Kashmir Police has urged the public to actively use the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS)-112 for immediate assistance during emergencies. The helpline is a 24×7 integrated emergency service that provides prompt response to incidents such as accidents, law and order situations, medical emergencies, fire incidents and distress calls, including those involving women and children.

A police spokesperson said, the service can be accessed by dialling 112 from any mobile or landline, through SMS, SOS or panic buttons on smartphones via the 112 India App, as well as through the ERSS digital platform jk.erss.in.

Emergency response teams are deployed through GPS-enabled vehicles to ensure swift assistance.

The police also cautioned that misuse of the helpline through false or prank calls is a punishable offence. Reiterating its commitment to public safety, the Jammu and Kashmir Police appealed for citizen cooperation in ensuring a safe and secure society.
