Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal emphasized that India is well-positioned to contribute significantly to global steel demand.

Speaking at INDIA STEEL – 6th International Exhibition and Conference in Mumbai, Minister Goyal stated that the government has successfully protected the domestic steel industry from unfair dumping and irrationally low pricing. He highlighted that India’s steel industry is highly efficient, cost-effective, and known for producing high-quality steel. Urging industry leaders to partner with the government, Goyal called on Indian steel manufacturers and international experts to create a compelling framework to promote the use of precast and prefabricated steel structures in the real estate sector.

According to him, this can reduce construction time, lower interest costs, minimize pollution, and cut down on transportation needs. He also noted that India is negotiating at least 10 to 12 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with countries and blocs such as the European Union to secure greater market access for India’s cost-effective and high-quality steel exports.
