Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh today said that India’s Gross Expenditure on Research and Development has doubled in the last decade, reaching 1,27,380 crore rupees from 60,196 crore rupees.
Addressing the gathering at the 55th Foundation Day of the Department of Science and Technology in New Delhi, Mr Singh emphasised the need for increased industry involvement, including industry-led innovation, a shift in approach, and long-term innovation, to position the country among leading global players. He also highlighted the role of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation as a transformative force aimed at democratising research funding and boosting university participation.
