India’s MSME Sector Expands to 7 Crore Units; Govt Targets 60 Crore Jobs in 5 Years

Union  Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises- MSME  Jitan Ram Manjhi today said that India’s MSME network has grown into one of the world’s largest networks with more than 7 crore units operational across the country. The Minister said this while inaugurating the MSME Pavilion at the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF) in New Delhi on Monday. Addressing the media, the Minister stated that MSMEs have created employment for over 30 crore people nationwide, adding that the government aims to generate nearly 60 crore employment opportunities in the next five years.
 
He also highlighted that the pavilion features major government efforts to promote small enterprises and also provides an opportunity to artisans, and entrepreneurs to showcase the country’s cultural and handicraft heritage. Mr Manjhi further noted that platforms like IITF strengthen market access, skill development, and enterprise growth key drivers for self-reliance and the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
