Indian Orchid Festival 2026 at Pakyong district in Sikkim concludes

The Indian Orchid Festival 2026, under the theme ‘Orchids for Beauty & Prosperity’, organised by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, National Research Centre for Orchids (ICAR-NRCO) at Pakyong district in Sikkim, concluded today.
 
Minister for Agriculture &Horticulture Department, Govt.  of  Sikkim, Puran Gurung, was present as the Chief Guest today. Dr. SP Das, Director, ICAR-NRCO Pakyong, said this year’s Indian Orchids Festival has been organised with grandeur. Orchid growers, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders from many states participated and exchanged their ideas.
 
Das added that renowned nurseries, tissue culture companies and marketing companies participated in the show in order to have interaction with the growers and exchange ideas for growing, marketing and collaboration in the orchid industry. During the four-day-long Festival, Technical experts shared their practical knowledge to benefit growers.
 
Mr. Gurung expressed his happiness to attend the second edition of the Indian Orchids Show organised by ICAR-NRCO Pakyong and promised to organise such events at the North East India Level in the coming days in collaboration with State Governments.
 
Gurung reminded, Floriculture, Horticulture and Agriculture sector has vast world market & urged interested people to take it as a profession and try to meet the National demands of Red Chelli, avocado and Ginger.
 
Dr. N.P. Singh, Ex-Director, National Institute of Abiotic Stress Management, Baramati, in his address appreciated the initiative. Singh stated that the festival has surely uplifted the morale of the orchid growers. Singh said Orchids are for Beauty & Prosperity, and it needs to be taken as inspiration in the days to come.
