India-US Diplomats Hold Talks to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Kwatra, met Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Paul Kapur, at the State Department in Washington on Thursday. This was their second meeting in four days, following a discussion at the ambassador’s residence on Monday.

Both officials discussed ways to advance the US-India partnership and shared priorities. Kapur, an Indian-American diplomat recently confirmed as Assistant Secretary, has previously worked on India-US strategic and defence engagements.

The meeting comes as US President Donald Trump indicated plans to visit India soon, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “great man” and his “friend.”

Mr Kapur highlighted the strong ties between the US and India, including cooperation on trade, technology, energy, and regional security in South and Central Asia.
