President Droupadi Murmu held bilateral talks with President Duma Boko of Botswana in Gaborone today and discussed several bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest.
An important announcement on Project Cheetah was made during the talks. It is a unique initiative of India to reintroduce Cheetahs in India, decades after their extinction. It was announced that Botswana will be donating 8 Cheetahs to be translocated in India. A symbolic handover of the cheetahs will be done in the presence of President Murmu in Botswana tomorrow.
President Murmu arrived in Botswana’s capital city yesterday after concluding her Angola visit. This is the first-ever State visit by an Indian Head of State to the two African countries.
