India–Sri Lanka Joint Military Exercise MITRA SHAKTI-2025 Underway in Belagavi, Karnataka

The Eleventh edition of Joint Military Exercise MITRA SHAKTI-2025 between India and Sri Lanka is underway at the Foreign Training Node in Belagavi, Karnataka. The exercise began on Monday and will conclude on the 23rd of this month.

 

The Indian Army said that the exercise underscores the enduring defence partnership, interoperability and mutual trust between the two nations.

 

The fourth day of the exercise today witnessed the practical demonstration on Integrated Fieldcraft showcasing counter-drone drills, movement through built-up areas, obstacle crossing and break contact drills.

 

Subsequent sessions focused on Cordon and Search Operations with a live demonstration highlighting the integration of new-generation equipment were conducted during the exercise.

 

The display included the use of an Unmanned aerial vehicle for village reconnaissance, drone-assisted house searches and the incorporation of civic action measures during operations. Later, the contingents were divided into mixed groups comprising Indian and Sri Lankan soldiers for weapons training.

 

One group undertook simulator firing on the SIG Sauer 716, AK-203, Negev LMG and rocket launcher, while the other participated in live firing. The day concluded with an after-action discussion to consolidate lessons learnt and enhance interoperability and tactical understanding.
