India registers 47.9% growth in Foreign Tourist Arrivals during past 2 years

The country has registered 47.9 per cent growth in Foreign Tourist Arrivals during the past two years. The country witnessed arrival of 95.20 lakh foreign tourists during 2023, which is an increase of nearly 31 lakh compared to the previous year. In a written answer, Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat informed the Lok Sabha on Monday that this growth was possible due to several measures taken by his Ministry to attract more foreign tourists. Highest number of Foreign Tourists arrived from Bangladesh followed by the United States and the United Kingdom. In another written answer, the Minister said, over three thousand 200 crore rupees have been sanctioned for 40 projects in 23 states as Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment for Development of Iconic Tourist Centres during the current financial year.
