Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw today said that India is ready with a necessary ecosystem for indigenously designing and manufacturing Chips needed for electronic equipment. He was speaking to the media persons after inaugurating a Britain-based Semiconductor manufacturing and training centre in Bengaluru today. He informed that the Semiconductor mission supported 278 Universities and institutions, which resulted in students designing 28 Chips within the country.
The minister pointed out that the Semiconductor Mission that started in January of 2022, focused on creating necessary ecosystems in the country for Chip manufacturing, and today, 10 such units are under construction in the country, with one already manufacturing Chips as a pilot project. The minister noted that under Semiconductor Mission 2. O, the focus will be on equipment and materials needed to manufacture Chips within the country.
