India, Malaysia conclude fifth edition of Harimau Shakti military exercise in Rajasthan

The closing ceremony of the fifth edition of the joint military exercise Harimau Shakti between the Indian and Malaysian armies was held today at Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan. The two-week exercise, running from December 5 to 8, focused on joint tactical drills and sub-conventional operations under a UN mandate to strengthen interoperability, operational synergy, and mutual trust.

Troops conducted Army Martial Arts Routine drills, helicopter slithering, low-hover jumps from MI-17 helicopters, and counter-IED familiarisation. The exercise also included joint displays of weapons and equipment, yoga and sports activities, and training in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism concepts. Mixed teams carried out joint patrolling rehearsals, ambush theory sessions, and Command Post Exercises to enhance coordination, decision-making, and battlefield management.

The Indian Army said the exercise reinforced professional bonds and mutual trust, showcasing the two countries’ shared commitment to regional peace, stability, and defence cooperation.
