The Indian men’s hockey team finished as the runner-up at the prestigious Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia today. The second string Indian team, devoid of skipper Harmanpreet Singh and other top players, went down 0-1 to Belgium in the title clash.
Thibeau Stockbroekx scored the only goal in the match to help world No. 3 Belgium win their maiden Sultan Azlan Shah Cup trophy. The loss for India means that the search for a title since the 2010 edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup extends further.
Earlier in the day, New Zealand beat Malaysia 6-1 to bag the bronze medal.
