Union Health Minister J P Nadda today said that over the past decade, India has established itself as a major player in the health research and pharmaceutical sector internationally. In his video message at the National One Health Assembly 2025 Mr. Nadda said the country has emerged as an innovation hub driven by advancements in technology, strong research capabilities and a rapidly growing ecosystem of start-ups.

 

 

 

The Minister highlighted that the launch of the National One Health Mission is one of the prominent examples of India’s pandemic preparedness as it brings together 16 Central and State ministries and departments to work together for protecting the health of humans, animals and the environment. Underlining indigenous technologies like Truenat, Pathodetect, CRISPR, the Minister said that these growing Med-tech start-ups are helping the nation expand its capabilities for rapid and accurate testing.

 

 

 

Mr. Nadda further said that India’s vaccine leadership has been exceptional as the country developed indigenous COVID-19 vaccines like Covaxin, Corbevax and Covishield and supplied vaccines to more than a hundred countries. He added that the network undertaken as part of the National One Health Mission will help improve health across all sectors, identifying early warning and signals for emerging pandemics and epidemics.

 

 

 

Addressing the National One Health Assembly in New Delhi, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, Dr. V K Paul, said that the National One Health mission represents one of the most integrated, ambitious and future-ready frameworks ever made in the country. He said that India is leading the way in institutionalising one health as a permanent pillar of pandemic preparedness and integrated disease control. Mr. Paul highlighted that the mission is not just a temporary project but a long-term commitment.
