In men’s hockey, India defeated hosts South Africa 5-2 in the first match of the three-match series at Stellenbosch in Cape Town, last night.
For India, goals came from Shailanand Lakra, Aditya Lalage, Amit Rohidas, Harmanpreet Singh, and Dilpreet Singh, while Mustapha Cassiem and Viwe Mbata scored for South Africa.
The second hockey test will be played today at 8:30 pm Indian Time at Hartleyvale Stadium in Cape Town.
This South Africa tour, scheduled for the 7th, 9th, and 10th of this month, marks India’s final international series of the year. India is currently ranked 7th in the world, while South Africa holds the 12th spot.
