India has emerged as one of the world’s most connected societies, empowering 1.2 billion telecom subscribers, one billion internet users, and 1.4 billion digital identities. Union Minister of State for Communications, Dr Pemmasani Chandra Shekhar, said this while addressing a High-Level Segment of the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2025 in Azerbaijan on Monday. The Minister emphasized that cybersecurity is a shared global responsibility and urged nations to collaborate on resilient, cross-border cybersecurity frameworks. Calling for global digital unity, Dr Chandra Shekhar reaffirmed India’s commitment to partnering closely with all International Telecommunication Union member states. He also underlined that the world’s fastest 5G rollout in India has set new global standards, now covering 99 percent of districts.
