In Manipur, incessant rain has affected normal life and landslides and flash floods have been reported from different places of the State.
Heavy rainfall triggered landslides at two different places along the Imphal Jiribam Road on Monday (19th August 2024) morning obstructing the main life line of the State. On the other hand mudslides occurred near Daili Village of Kangpokpi district along the Imphal Dimapur Road which created heavy traffic jams for hours.
The road construction company responsible for these two National Highways deployed machines and workers to clear the debris.
The Meteorological Centre Imphal has forecast heavy rainfall in Manipur for the coming days and issued Orange alert. According to the weather report issued this morning, Senapati district reported rainfall of 70 mm followed by 56 mm in Chandel and 51 mm in Kamjong districts in the past twenty four hours. The valley districts of Manipur have also witnessed rainfall ranging from 40 mm to 50 mm during the period and inundated the low lying areas.
