The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast cold wave conditions over Punjab today. The Met Department also predicted fog conditions at isolated pockets over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rainfall with thundersquall and winds is expected over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Similar conditions are likely to prevail over Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. The IMD said, squally weather with wind speeds reaching upto to 55 kmph will prevail along and off the south Kerala coast and adjoining Lakshadweep area, over the Comorin area, over the south Bay of Bengal, along and off the Tamil Nadu coast and over the Andaman Sea.
Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi-NCR continues to remain in very poor quality. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) of the region was recorded at 346 as of 7 AM this morning. In view of the deteriorating air quality, the Commission for Air Quality Management has imposed Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan in the national capital and adjoining areas.
