India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heavy rainfall over Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Telangana today. IMD also predicted extremely heavy rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir till Friday and in Telangana till the 17th of this month.

IMD said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh today.

The Met department said that thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds is expected over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Karnataka and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The weather agency further forecast heavy rainfall in the Delhi-NCR today.
